Carbon footprint consultancy for businesses

Measuring your company's carbon footprint is no longer optional. More and more clients, tenders and regulations demand it, and getting it wrong — or late — closes doors. We are the carbon footprint consultancy that calculates it, verifies it and gets it registered, without you having to master the small print of every scope.

We work on carbon footprints from the energy side, which is where most of your emissions live. That means we do not stop at the report: we tell you exactly where every tonne comes from and what you can do to bring it down.

What a carbon footprint is (and why it pays to measure it)

A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases your activity emits, expressed in tonnes of CO₂ equivalent. It is calculated across three scopes: your company's direct emissions (scope 1), those linked to the energy you purchase (scope 2) and those from the rest of your value chain (scope 3).

Measuring it serves three concrete purposes: complying with regulations and your clients' requirements, bidding for tenders that already demand it, and — the most profitable one — identifying where you are spending more energy and money than you should.

How we calculate your footprint: scopes 1, 2 and 3

We start by gathering your consumption and activity data and converting it into emissions using the official factors. We cover the three scopes as needed: 1 and 2 are mandatory in most cases, and scope 3 is what sets you apart in front of demanding clients and investors.

The result is not just a number: it is a map of your emissions showing which processes, plants or supplies concentrate your impact. That is where the savings begin.

Verification and registration with MITECO

A calculation you cannot prove is worthless in front of a client or the authorities. We support you through third-party verification and registration in the carbon footprint registry of MITECO, Spain's ecological transition ministry, including the corresponding seal. You end up with a certificate you can show, not a spreadsheet.

From measuring to reducing: what comes next

Measuring is the first step; the value lies in lowering the figure. With your footprint on the table, we design the plan to reduce it: efficiency, supply changes, electrification and offsetting where appropriate. We develop it under business decarbonisation, within your energy transition strategy.

Why Trébol

We are a consultancy specialised in energy, not a generalist sustainability firm. We understand your bill, your processes and your market, so your carbon footprint does not end up in a PDF: it turns into decisions that cut emissions and costs at the same time.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is my company required to calculate its carbon footprint?

It depends on your size, your sector and who you sell to. For many companies it is already a client and tender requirement, and regulation keeps moving in that direction. We will tell you whether it applies to your specific case, and from when.

  • What is the difference between scopes 1, 2 and 3?

Scope 1 covers your direct emissions (boilers or your own fleet, for instance); scope 2, those from the electricity and energy you purchase; scope 3, those from the rest of your chain (suppliers, transport, use of your products).

  • How long does the calculation take?

With the data available, a scope 1 and 2 calculation is usually ready within a few weeks. Scope 3 depends on the complexity of your value chain.

  • Does measuring my footprint help me save money?

Yes. The same analysis that measures your emissions shows where you are consuming more energy than you need — exactly where the savings measures with a payback are.
