A session on Energy Savings Certificates (CAE), with Grupo Trébol Energía
On 29 May, Grupo Trébol Energía took part in the technical session organised by Circutor at its Viladecavalls headquarters, examining the role of Energy Savings Certificates (CAE) in transforming industry and the built environment. The session brought together a wide range of experts from the energy sector and established itself as a key forum for debating the future of CAE in Spain.
What Energy Savings Certificates are, and why they matter
Energy Savings Certificates (CAE) are a central mechanism within industrial and building energy efficiency policy. The system certifies the energy savings achieved through specific measures, encouraging investment in more efficient, more sustainable technology. CAE have become a strategic tool for making progress on decarbonisation, emissions reduction and business competitiveness.
Our experience as an Intermediary Body in the CAE system
During the session, our Energy Transition Director, Laura García, joined the round table representing Grupo Trébol Energía and drew on our experience as a CAE Intermediary Body. That role lets us support companies and organisations in identifying, processing and validating measures that generate certifiable energy savings.
Laura García noted that while the industrial CAE system still poses challenges — particularly around data traceability and handling one-off measures in production environments — the market is evolving quickly and offers substantial opportunities for industry.

What came out of the session
Circutor's technical session was not only a chance to share practical experience, but also to debate how the regulatory framework is evolving, which technologies enable energy efficiency, and the part played by each actor in the CAE system: Obligated Bodies, Delegated Bodies, Verifying Bodies and Intermediary Bodies.
We would like to thank Circutor for organising this meeting, which strengthens collaboration across the sector and lets us keep moving together towards a more sustainable, efficient and competitive energy model.
