CNCM detects Documentary Irregularities
The process of changing supplier in the electricity and gas sector has become a common practice for many consumers in search of better rates or services. However, a recent study carried out by the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC) has revealed the existence of certain documentary irregularities in this process.
According to the findings of this study, approximately 10 % of the changes of supplier have deficiencies in the associated documentation. These deficiencies range from requests made without the customer's full consent to the loss of the social bonus without an explicit waiver by the consumer. Although the vast majority of the changes of supplier (90.2%) have the explicit consent of consumers, the remaining percentage shows a lack of adequate documentation.
In view of this worrying situation, the CNMC is taking measures to address the documentary deficiencies detected. One of these measures includes the development of regulatory proposals aimed at improving the information available to consumers during the switching process. These proposals also seek to make misleading commercial practices more difficult and to ensure that changes are carried out in a transparent and fair manner for consumers.
In this sense, it is expected that these measures will contribute to reduce administrative errors and strengthen the protection of consumers' rights in the energy market. In addition, the CNMC has prepared an informative guide detailing the key aspects that consumers should take into account when changing supplier.
This guide provides guidance on how to avoid potential irregularities and ensure a smooth process.
At GRUPO TRÉBOL ENERGÍA, we look after the interests of our customers and are committed to promoting transparency and trust in the energy market.
